Yale Redpath Speaker Event

This year Yale Club of BC had the pleasure of listening to Basie Bales Gitlin (Yale College '10), present on the topic of Yale’s extensive museums and collections. Basie graduated from Yale College with a B.A. in history and received an M.Phil. in history from Pembroke College, Cambridge.

More about Basie: Active in the world of books, he serves as Secretary of the Grolier Club of New York City, Librarian of the Elizabethan Club, Co-Chair (with fellow Honorary Member Miko McGinty ’93, ’98 MFA) of Yale’s Adrian Van Sinderen Book Collecting Prize and recently signed on to the Advisory Council of the American Trust for the British Library. He currently serves as director of development for Yale University Library and Yale Collections.

A trustee of the New Haven Museum and the Mory’s Association, Basie has held other Yale volunteer roles including interviewing for ASC, for his class, the the Yale Alumni Fund and the Yale Club of New Haven. With his father, Jay Gitlin ’71, he has co-authored an article on Elihu Yale and a book-length history of Mory’s.
